Counselling is a therapy used to help people who, for any number of reasons, are struggling to feel satisfied by their lives. As a counsellor I provide a confidential space, separate from your work, school or home life where we can think about you, your priorities and feelings.
This process offers you a different perspective on your life, helping you to recognise and focus on the things that are important to you, enabling you to make healthier, more informed choices for your future.

If you are struggling emotionally or feeling stuck and unfulfilled, then counselling can support in helping you regain balance and make positive changes. While every one of my clients is different, here are some examples of the types of thing people come to counselling for:
Support with difficult feelings such as anger, jealousy, resentment.
Support with coming to terms with, and responding to, life events such as redundancy, relationship breakdown, having children, illness.
Support with memories of past experiences such trauma, abuse, loss.
Some clients choose to engage in counselling regularly as part of a healthy lifestyle, rather than in response to an immediately pressing concern, continually challenging themselves to reach their full potential. I offer a reduced rate for long-term counselling.
What should I expect?

After I receive your contact form, I will call or email you back (according to your preference) to discuss your needs and how I can help. We will arrange a time to meet in person for an initial appointment to better understand the difficulties you are facing and propose a therapy plan.
Your counselling appointments will be at the same time, weekly. Ordinarily I use a private counselling room, but at the moment I am also offering walk and talk sessions or telephone appointments.
During your first appointment we will take some time to make sure you are happy with my approach, including confidentiality and payment arrangements. We will talk about what has brought you to seek counselling and what your priorities are.
In your sessions going forward, I will help you reflect upon your life-choices, feelings and relationships, support you in expanding your self-understanding and help you to challenge unhelpful patterns. I will support you, always looking to understand, never judging your decisions or feelings.
